The first of the 200 coho salmon eggs from Soos Creek Hatchery hatched this morning! There was great excitement among the students. Second grade teachers, Richard and Laura, are doing a great job of keeping everyone updated as the salmon pass through life cycle stages.
Be sure to check out the Fauntleroy watershed website to learn more about this exciting project!
Another great site with information is Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. It was created to restore the historic salmon runs that once thrived in Issaquah Creek but had been destroyed by logging, coal mining, and other activities in the Issaquah Creek Basin. Continue to check back for more updates on the progress of our very own salmon eggs!
