A great opportunity for middle school girls is coming up! All students, grades 7-12, are invited to participate in a free STEM event occurring in February at the University of Washington, sponsored and organized by Amazon. There are many opportunities for women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics related disciplines. This is an opportunity for girls to meet peers that share their interests, and to meet women in the industry who are working in STEM-related careers. Learn more on the Insider Online blog

Westside School will be offering three options for childcare while school is on mid-winter break. For students in pre-Kindergarten, full day care is available between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. For students in Kindergarten and up, we are offering four full days of iPad Animation camp presented by Clay Animation Network or, for first grade students and up, Theatre Slam presented by Sing Out Seattle is available. Both camps run Tuesday, February 18 through Friday, February 21. Before/aftercare will not be offered on those days. Registration for all of the above options is available here. Please contact Extended Day Coordinator, Josh Goodman (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions.
Congratulations to Lily and Kai, our Westside School Athletes of the Week! Be sure to read about their success on the Insider Online! Please note this important information about Middle School athletic celebrations and coach recognition: There will be an end of the year banquet for all sports on June 3. At the banquet, players and coaches will be recognized for their efforts and achievements in sports throughout the school year. The school gives each coach a gift at the banquet in addition to a team photograph and public “Thank You.” In the past, individual teams have have as a group to have a small team party as a casual and often spontaneous, post-season celebration. This is typically organized by, and is at the discretion of, team parents. In the event a player wants to give an additional gift to their coach, the school prefers the player does not request funds from parents as an organized group. The school hopes to minimize the amount of times Westside parents are asked for funds. Please be mindful of this practice.
Have a great weekend everyone!
