Summer is right around the corner! Our last day of school is Friday, June 6. Each Westside School student will receive a yearbook that day to commemorate the 2013 – 2014 school year. This will be a half-day of school ending at 12:00pm.
To ease traffic congestion, please follow this pick-up schedule:
11:45 a.m. – Pre-Kindergarten in the South Parking Lot
11:45 a.m. – Kindergarten in the Front Pick-up Lane
12:00 p.m. – First – fourth grades in the Front Pick-up Lane
12:15 p.m. – Fifth – Eighth grades in the South Lot
If this pick-up schedule doesn’t work for your family, please contact your teacher/advisor to make other arrangements.
REMEMBER: there is not after-care the last day of school.

Westside Insider Lower School

We are looking forward to celebrating the talents of our Lower School students tomorrow, Wednesday, May 28, at the Lower School Spring Fling performance. Please arrive at Grace Church (10323 28th Ave, SW, 98146) at 6:15 p.m. Teachers will be greeting students beginning at 6:15 p.m. Should you arrive earlier, please keep your child(ren) with you. We hope you can join us!

Friday, June 6: Westside SPIRIT Day (alternative Wacky Hair Day for Middle School students)

SPIRIT Auction Board of Trustees Party

The Board Cocktail Party and Cuban style Pig Roast is scheduled for Saturday, June 7 from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the beautiful waterfront home of Deena McCloskey and Jay Brodmerkel. The Evite went out last week. If you did not receive it, but signed up for the Board party at the Auction, please contact Celesta Bjornson at cbjornson@comcast.net. If you did not sign up for the party at the Auction, but would like to attend, please contact Celesta Bjornson at cbjornson@comcast.net. If you did not sign up for party at the Auction, but would like to attend, please get in touch with Celesta Bjornson as well. The cost is $50.00 per person.


Many items have been lost since our winter break in December, and we kindly request you drop by over the next two weeks to collect any items you wish to keep. After the conclusion of this academic year, all items will be donated. Lost and Found is located down the stairs just outside the MPR.


All student medication must be collected by the last day of school, Friday June 6. Please see Kathy Winans or contact her (kathyw@westsideschool.org.)

Westside School Insider Reminders


Field Day is coming up on Friday, May 30! The current weather forecast is for sunny skies and warm weather in the 70s. Parents and guardians, please be sure to apply sunscreen to your child in the morning. Without a signed release and provided sunscreen, faculty and staff are not permitted to apply sunscreen to students.

Please help us keep your kids sunburn free at Field Day.

We still need volunteers! Sign up here to help out during Lower School Field Day! To assist with Middle School Field Day, please email Carolyn Comick at ccomick@gmail.com.

Pre-Kindergarten students will dismissed from EC Hughes Park unless they are in Extended Day Care. Kindergarten and Lower School students will walk back to Westside School and be dismissed at 3:15 p.m. (unless they are in Extended Day Care) Please note the later time for Kindergarten.

A summer of adventure begins at Westside School with Westside Adventure Camps 2014! Registration is now open for all sessions, beginning June 9 and continuing through August 22.

Westside Insider WPO

With the 2013-2014 academic year coming to a close in just a few short weeks, it’s time to elect the new WPO Board and Event Chair positions for the 2014 – 2015 academic year! The positions are detailed in a link below, and if you’re interested in joining the team click here.

Even if you work during the day or have limited time there’s an opportunity for everyone! The WPO has every kind of position to fit your skills, interest, and available time. To learn more about the positions, click here.

Westside Insider Athletics

The Westside School track team championship meet will be held this Saturday, May 31 at 3:00 p.m. in the Southwest Athletic Complex. Please contact Mike Thomas, Athletic Director, with any questions (miket@westsideschool.org)

As a reminder, Westside School will be offering a co-ed basketball camp for incoming fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students June 16 through 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The camp will focus on skills and fundamentals Monday through Wednesday, with Thursday as a competition day. All skill and experience levels welcome. Register today!
