Westside Adventure Camp – Week Two!
Week II: Around the World in Five Days
Monday June 16: Box Lunch and Wheel Day
Monday we will be wheeling around on campus in the morning. Campers are welcome to bring bikes, scooters or roller blades and skates, but please no skateboards! Helmets and pads are required. In the afternoon, Mind Unwind is sending us one of their resident artist teachers for a workshop based on the cultures of the world.
Tuesday June 17: Burke Museum, Bag Lunch
We’ll start our exploration of cultures around the world close to home in Washington State. We’re headed to the Burke Museum for their “First Peoples of The Pacific Northwest” workshop. The buses leave at 9:45 a.m. sharp so make sure to be on time! We’ll have a picnic lunch at UW campus, so pack a portable lunch. We’ll return by 1:30 p.m. at the latest.
Wednesday June 18: Asian Art Museum, Bag Lunch Today we’re headed to the Asian Art Museum to explore and create some eastern art and culture with AAM’s education program. Buses leaving at 9:45 a.m. so be on time! We’ll have picnic lunches in Volunteer Park so pack portable. We’ll be back by 2:00 p.m. at the latest.
Thursday June 19: Alki Beach, Loghouse, Bag Lunch
Thursday we’ll head just down the road to Alki Beach. Be sure to pack beach appropriate clothing! We’ll have lunch there and do a few beachy activities before we head over to the Loghouse to learn a little about Seattle’s cultural history. We’ll return by 2:30 p.m. at the latest.
Friday June 20: Kids Day at Les Grove Park, Auburn WA Bag Lunch
We’ll head over to Auburn for the fair and family festival at Les Grove Park. The fair has plenty of activities and options for kids of various ages. Many activities are free and spending money is not required, however parents have the option to send their children with a small amount of spending money in a bag/envelope labeled with the dollar amount and the camper’s name. Camp staff will carry camper money until we arrive at the fair. We’ll return by 2:30 p.m. at the latest.
