The Cross Country team finished their season this past weekend! For the championship meet the two pools were combined, and 42 schools competed with each race including approximately 100 runners. In cross-country, athletes are competing against other runners, but they are also competing against themselves. A great way to measure improvement is whether someone ran their best time. Of the 28 Westside School Middle School runners competing, 16 ran their personal best times. Runners finishing in the top 10 each received a t-shirt, and runners finishing 11-25 received a place ribbon. Westside School had top 10 finishes from Henry, Regan, Reese, Chris, and Luke, and had top 25 finishes from Anthony, Jaclyn, Gwyneth, Jonathan, Nathan, and Mitchell. Westside School also took home two trophies!
The Westside School Cross Country team finished fifth overall and took home a fifth place trophy. There are two non-results based trophies awarded after the championship meet. The first is the Sportsmanship award and the second is the Spirit award. The Spirit award celebrates the best community, and this year, the Spirit award winner was Westside School! Thank you to all the athletes, parents, volunteers, students who came and cheered, and coaches for making this happen.
