Westside School Cross Country athletes ran in the championship cross-country meet last Sunday. Because CYO splits up the meets between kindergarten through third grade students and fourth through eighth grade students, our fourth grade students ran with us in the meet on Sunday, and for the first time, we are featuring a student in our Lower School for Athlete of the Week! Congratulations to Jaclyn, our female Athlete of the Week. Jaclyn ran in the fourth grade championship race, and finished 19 out of 116 runners. Jaclyn set a new Westside School fourth grade girls record time with a 7:42. Jaclyn is an excellent runner, and we are looking forward to her moving into Middle School next year and joining us full time.
Reese, this week’s male Athlete of the Week, is an excellent track runner, and we were excited to have him decide to run cross-country this year. Reese ran a solid first race and then got sick and missed some time. He came ready on Sunday and ran with the front pack from the start. Reese finished fifth out 96 runners, with a 1.35 mile time of 8:49, the only sub nine minute time for the sixth grade this year. Reese came through the mile in ninth, and turned it on for the final .35 passing four runners, and almost sprinting down one more at the finish line. We are looking forward to track season!
Congratulations Jaclyn and Reese!
