Thursday, October 30: Parent/Teacher Conferences, no classes
Friday, October 31: Parent/Teacher Conferences, no classes
We will be offering all day childcare on Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31 for Parent/Teacher Conference days. Kindergarten through eighth grade childcare hours will run from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Pre-kindergarten childcare hours will run from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Childcare will be hosted by the Westside School Extended Day staff. We will offer a variety of on-campus workshops and projects, as well as off-campus field trips. Please register here.
If you are interested in drop-in care for the time during your own scheduled conference, you do not need to sign up for all day childcare. Drop-in care will be available Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and throughout the day on Thursday and Friday in the library.
Drop-ins are welcome during conferences only; you must be on campus to have a child in drop-in care.
Last week, we sent a separate email with links to sign up for our fall parent-teacher conference. Please contact Jessica (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you need the link resent to you. Conferences are scheduled for next week, Thursday, October 30 and Friday, October 31. To better accommodate working families, we will also offer late afternoon/early evening meeting times on Wednesday, October 29.
Teachers are eager to meet with each of you, and to discuss your child’s academic, social and emotional growth in the first quarter of our school year. These conferences will serve as a time to celebrate accomplishments and set goals. There will not be a written report sent home, so if you have not had a chance to do so, we encourage you to click the link sent to you via email and select a time that is best for you.
Head Lice Update
Our school-wide head lice check last week went very well. The service we contracted with was professional, discrete and efficient. Students were very respectful and cooperative. Overall, there were nine children who were identified to have head lice. These families were contacted and asked to treat their child immediately. We will continue to be vigilant about reducing the spread of head lice at school. We ask all families frequently check their child’s head for nits (eggs) and treat if any are found. We would also like everyone to bring a reusable bag to school to store coats in during the day. Thank you for your support and cooperation in addressing this matter.
Enjoy your week,
Ari Feeney, Lower School Head
