Students on the Westside School Robotics team recently competed in the Seattle FLL (First Lego League) Robotics competition. The theme this year was “World Class.” The assignment: “Your Project mission this season is to find a better or more innovative way to help someone learn.” Westside School students worked together to produce a project based on the challenge of embracing new and emerging learning modalities. The teams also competed by building and programming Mindstorm robots to navigate a series of challenges in timed competition.
One of the Westside School teams focused on using Blender, a 3D modeling program, to enhance learning about the International Space Station for their project. Our other team developed a digital approach to teaching about health issues to the general public of a third world country by using an iPad with easily accessible memes that convey instructions for specific health issues. It was aptly named the iSick project and took top honors for Best Innovative Solution at the show! Congratulations!
