Westside School Field Day is coming up on Friday, May 29! This is a great outdoor day full of old-fashioned, playground fun organized by our own P.E. dynamos, Donna Jornlin and Mike Thomas. Westside School Field Day starts with a pizza lunch followed by a round of games in the afternoon from walking in gooey ooblek to obstacle courses. Don’t forget the time honored, fourth grade doughnut eating event!
To accommodate our diverse age groups, Westside School Field Day is split into three groups (early school, lower school and middle school) and is held at two nearby parks. After the games, everyone enjoys a well-earned Popsicle, donated graciously by Umpqua Bank.
An important calendar note about the day for kindergarten students: As a reminder and heads up, each year the kindergarten classes have a later dismissal on Field Day. Students will be dismissed at 3:15 p.m. instead of 2:45 p.m.
To make this event a success, we will need plenty of volunteers. Please sign up here for Lower School Field Day. The Middle School volunteer sign up is coming soon.

Please mark your calendars for the Westside School Parent Education Night event this Thursday:
High School Information Night
The Westside School Middle School Hoedown Social is happening on Friday, May 15! The event is a social, not a dance, and there will be delicious food, games and activities for all Middle School students. Please remember to sign up to bring food or supplies for the Hoedown! Permission slips can be turned into Susannah until Wednesday of this week. The social will be held in the Middle School courtyard. Drop off is at 6:00 p.m. and pick up is at 8:00 p.m. at the south parking lot gate. If you have any questions please let Mary or Susannah know at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Westside School Middle School Track team competed in the individual qualifying meet this past Saturday, and Emilio, Anthony, David, Flora, and Nina competed in the eighth grade pentathlon on Sunday. They were the first Westside School students to compete in the pentathlon in our school history, and their efforts are greatly appreciated! The individual championship meet is this Saturday, May 16 at Renton Stadium, starting at noon. We hope you’ll join us to cheer on the athletes!
