Insider important!

Thank you to everyone who has completed the Westside School Bus Service survey! Westside School is exploring the possibility of implementing a bus line for the 2016 – 2017 school year. We have been working with King County Metro to develop route 991. Metro studied a map of our current families and believes 991 would serve the greatest concentration of potential riders.

In order to launch our bus service we will need a minimum of 30 riders. The cost to you if we have 30 riders would be a total of $1,411 per rider per year, or about $140 per rider per month for round trip bus service. In order for us to fully assess the impact and practicality of route 991, please click here to complete our Westside School Bus Service survey by THIS Friday, November 13. Even if you do not plan to use the bus, we would very much appreciate your participation in our survey.

Insider lower school

Thank you all for taking the time to meet with teachers during conferences last week. It was wonderful to share students’ progress and projects. There is no better way for us to communicate the successes and growth your children demonstrate than when we can sit down with you face-to-face. We look forward to meeting with you all again at conferences in the spring!

Students in the Lower School are excited to welcome Grandparents or Family Friends (ADULT FRIENDS ONLY) to school on Tuesday, November 24 from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. This special event will give Grandparents or Family Friends the opportunity to see our beautiful new campus, enjoy light snacks, see a short performance in the theater, and visit the classroom of his or her grandchild or family friend! All Grandparents and Family Friends are welcome (and encouraged) to take children home at the conclusion of this event to begin enjoying Thanksgiving vacation with their family and friends. Parking is available on campus until the event concludes. Any questions about the event may be directed to members of the Advancement Team at 206.932.2511.

There is still time to give to the Westside School Fund! Please join 100% of Westside School’s faculty and staff, 100% of the Board of Trustees and 69% of fellow families in supporting the Westside School Fund!

THIS Friday, November 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m., is the long awaited Quiz Night led by Middle School Humanities teacher Glyn Jenkins! It is an adults only event so please book your childcare and plan to join us for a fun evening. $10 is the suggested donation per person which covers a delicious chili dinner (compliments of Stephen Schoefelder.) Please bring your own beverage (beer and wine are welcome as no kids will be in the building!) If you have any questions, please contact Heather Hisatomi (hkhisatomi@me.com)

Just a reminder that WPO Board meetings are open to anyone who is interested in attending! These meetings are a great chance to listen and learn more about what’s happening in the WPO. The next board meeting is this Thursday, November 12 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. in the Library Board Room.

Susannah could really use some help in the library on Friday afternoons! The volunteers will be able to enjoy time in the school’s cozy library while checking in books, re-shelving books and generally straightening up the library at the end of the week. The timing is flexible and any help would be greatly appreciated! Please contact Susannah if you can help – susannahm@westsideschool.org
