I am pleased to introduce Dennis King, who is joining us as the Maintenance Supervisor at Westside School. Dennis was our unanimous choice for the position because of his expertise, breadth of experience, and collaborative work ethic. Further, his calm, competent jovial nature and commitment to stewardship of our facility and our staff made him a good fit for Westside School.
Dennis worked for Seattle Central Community College for 25 years, as both a Facilities and Operations Specialist at both the main college and at their new Wood Tech Center. In the latter role, he was the liaison between management and the contractor during the construction phase of a new $25 million building.
He is very excited to start working with the team, and we look forward to all of you meeting him.
Westside School Metro Bus Information Night
Tuesday, February 2, 2016, 8:45 a.m.
The results from our recent survey suggest a strong interest in a dedicated bus service to Westside School for the 2016 – 2017 school year. Julie Burrell from King County Metro will be here on Tuesday, February 2 at 8:45 a.m. to describe the service, answer your questions, and address any concerns. Metro is a long time provider of bus service to Lakeside School, University Prep, Evergreen School and many more. We encourage all interested parents to attend.
If you are interested in attending, please sign up here. For questions, please contact Ted Holmes (firstname.lastname@example.org)

Volleyball practice will start next week, the first week of February.
There has been an incremental and somewhat organic spread of mindfulness practice incorporated here at Westside School. At the next WPO Parent Ed Night we will discuss what mindfulness is, talk about its growth and evolution in education, share some resources including research in the field, share what is happening in the classroom, and try practicing it during the session. Don’t know much about mindfulness? Then please join us at the WPO Parent Ed Night and learn more. Save the date! Tuesday, February 23 at 6:00 p.m.
