Westside Insider Head of School

I am pleased to introduce Dennis King, who is joining us as the Maintenance Supervisor at Westside School. Dennis was our unanimous choice for the position because of his expertise, breadth of experience, and collaborative work ethic. Further, his calm, competent jovial nature and commitment to stewardship of our facility and our staff made him a good fit for Westside School.

Dennis worked for Seattle Central Community College for 25 years, as both a Facilities and Operations Specialist at both the main college and at their new Wood Tech Center. In the latter role, he was the liaison between management and the contractor during the construction phase of a new $25 million building.

He is very excited to start working with the team, and we look forward to all of you meeting him.

Westside School Metro Bus Information Night
Tuesday, February 2, 2016, 8:45 a.m.

The results from our recent survey suggest a strong interest in a dedicated bus service to Westside School for the 2016 – 2017 school year. Julie Burrell from King County Metro will be here on Tuesday, February 2 at 8:45 a.m. to describe the service, answer your questions, and address any concerns. Metro is a long time provider of bus service to Lakeside School, University Prep, Evergreen School and many more. We encourage all interested parents to attend.
If you are interested in attending, please sign up here. For questions, please contact Ted Holmes (tedh@westsideschool.org)

Insider lower school

January 22 marked the end of our first semester in Lower School and report cards will be mailed out this Friday, January 29. Be sure to watch your mail!
Lower School has spent the past three weeks studying the virtue of “Temperance” and discussing the character strengths of Humility, Self-Regulation, Prudence, and Forgiveness. Students have been reading stories from Dr. Seuss’ Yertle the Turtle and discussing the many ways that demonstrating temperance helps to build a positive classroom community. Be sure to chat with your student about how you use temperance in your daily life.
