We are celebrating eighth grade student Karl this week! He has qualified for the Western Region Alpine Ski Racing Championships in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

In January and February Karl competed in a series of qualifying races in giant slalom, slalom, and super G. Karl was the top male qualifier in our sub-region. Karl will join 14 men and 12 women from the Pacific Northwest Region, (Washington, Oregon and Idaho), to compete with 120 (60 men, 60 women) athletes from 11 states in March.

The final qualifying race was at Crystal Mountain on February 13 and 14. Karl’s combined finish times won him the overall perpetual trophy. His name was added to a long list of winners of the Crystal Mountain Cherry Tree Charge race, including Westside School fourth grade teacher Judith Arvidson.

Karl has skied on the Team Alpental Snoqualmie (TAS) ski team since third grade.

Congratulations Karl, we are exceptionally proud of you!
