They are looking for volunteers to bake two dozen cookies each. They will also need two volunteers to bring vegan cookies. Cookies will need to be dropped off on the lunchroom counter Wednesday, May 11 or the morning of Thursday, May 12.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CARNIVAL
The Westside School Middle School Student Council is planning a Carnival and could use some parent help to make it a success! Volunteers are need to help with contributions of food, drinks and decorations as well as a few chaperones. Please sign up here if you are able to help.
Food, drinks and balloons may be dropped off at the start of the event. If you need to bring them earlier in the day, please bring them to Lauren’s room (109).
Thank you for helping to make this a fabulous event for our students! If you need a permission slip, please email Mary Kratz (email@example.com)
LOWER SCHOOL FIELD DAY
Ask our kids and they will tell you – Field Day is one of their favorite activities. This year Field Day will take place on Friday, June 3, and as always, we need our parents help to make this possible. Usually the event takes place off site but this year we are trying something new and holding the event on our own campus. The event schedule will remain the same as recent years. We start with a pizza lunch and awards presented by Emily Gussin, followed by the always-popular fourth grade donut-eating spectacle! Games will then begin as groups move through activities and we will finish with popsicles.
As mentioned, this event is not possible without volunteers so please sign up now!!!!
WPO ROLLER SKATING NIGHT – THIS SATURDAY
The WPO has reserved the Southgate Roller Rink for a Westside School Family Skate Night! The event is for Westside School students and their families only – the rink is reserved for Westside School families to enjoy. Pizza and drinks are included. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Hope to see you there!
Saturday, May 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

MAY IS BIKE TO SCHOOL MONTH
May is Bike-To-School month, with Wednesday, May 4 being Bike to School Day! With support form Cascade bike club, we’ll be keeping track of our cumulative minutes spent riding. Whether you ride during the weekends, all the way to school or even part way, let’s get those kids on bikes!
Join with families all over Seattle, Washington state and the country, by riding to school or work on Wednesday, May 4. Westside School parents will be handing out stickers and treats to every rider, starting at 8:00 a.m.
Calendars to log bike minutes throughout the month will be available online or in paper in the lobby of Westside School. A prize will go to whoever tallies up the most minutes at the end of the month.
On Saturday, May 7 bring your bikes and meet in the school parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Parent volunteers will be giving out bike information and stickers, checking helmet fit and tire pressure, and offering some routine maintenance. You are also invited to enjoy the simple pleasure of riding around our new school!
